Allan Poole

Allan grew up in Roanoke, Virginia, and attended Wake Forest University. He pursued theological studies at Gordon-Conwell Seminary and Duke Divinity School. Over the course of 46 years, Allan faithfully served in ministry, including 36 years as a pastor at Blacknall Presbyterian Church. He is excited to bring his experience and heart for ministry to the Study Center.

Allan and his wife, Betsy, have three children—including two Carolina graduates. He enjoys reading, especially The Great Divorce, which he finds limitless in its depth and insight into human nature, the arguments we make against God, and the Gospel’s invitation. He is also an indiscriminate lover of scones and an all-around sports enthusiast.
