'He Opened Their Minds to Understand the Scripture’: Grasping the Beauty of the Old Testament in the New
In partnership with Regent College and their Alumni Office, we are excited to host Dr. George Guthrie for an evening lecture exploring the myriad ways that the authors of the New Testament drew from the Old Testament: quotes, allusions, echoes (faint allusions), references to key people, etc., as well as how later rabbis understood such things. Join us as Dr. Guthrie helps us to appreciate the Scripture-soaked imaginations of the New Testament authors and how their readings of the Old Testament shaped their authorship of the Gospels, the book of Acts and the epistles.
To all area Regent College Alumni: You’re invited to a meet & greet with one of Regent’s newest faculty members, Dr. George Guthrie. Dr. Guthrie will be hosting a stand-up reception for all alumni and friends of the College at 6 pm before he presents his evening public lecture on Wednesday, July 31st at 7pm. You’ll have the chance to connect with Dr. Guthrie, reconnect with old friends, and hear a brief update on life at the College. We hope you can make it, and please share this invite with fellow alumni in the area.
