Dr. Fred Brooks (4D Dinner)

Join us for family-style dinner and to hear from renowned computer scientist Dr. Fred Brooks!  Dr. Brooks, the founder of the UNC Department of Computer Science, earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Harvard University and began working for IBM in 1956.  He was Project Manager for the development of IBM’s System/360 family of computers and OS/360 software.  Among other honors and recognition he has received the National Medal of Technology, an ACM A.M. Turing Award, and in 2008 the Frederick P. Brooks Jr. Computer Science Building at UNC was dedicated in his honor.

4D Dinners are open to all UNC students, faculty and alumni; they provide an opportunity to slow down during a busy week, to enjoy a home-cooked meal with some good company, and to hear from a lineup of thoughtful guest speakers sharing about how their faith has impacted their work.

*$4 Donations are welcomed to help us cover meal costs.
